Hello Volks!
First, I'd like to thank all for the great responses I get on this list.
Then, I'd like to continue a thread I started about heating a parked vanagon:
I want to circulate engine coolant through the engine EVEN WHEN IT'S TURNED
OFF (using an external electric water pump).
I know that the thermostat will be closed (that's even good, to conserve
heat). Looking at the "approximate" wiring diagrams in my Haynes it seems that
the core coolant circuit (motor -> water pump -> heater radiator) is
independent from the thermostat/radiator circuit. The question is will the
coolant pump pass coolant without too much resistance when it's not turning? I
don't have one at hand, but since I guess it's a centrifugal pump, it should.
Any confirmation from the experts here is truly appreceated.
cheers,
T-man
