Remember to use NEW circlips on joint when servicing or replacing Jimmy >>> Jeff Nelson <ramjeff@EARTHLINK.NET> 01/05/00 07:46AM >>> EMZ wrote: > > Have you been driving this without the drive axle? This shattered the cage and allowed me to easily leave the outer CV race in the steering knuckle while I removed the shaft to make the van drive-able. > > On Tue, 4 Jan 2000, John Kehely wrote: > > > > Am I likely to do harm by driving with that shaft missing. > > Is it better to remove the other front shaft until I find a replacement. I would recommend just removing the driveshaft. This is much easier than disassembling your other good? CV joint. As Eric mentioned, you cannot just remove the entire CV joint and still drive the vehicle. Be sure to mark the connections so you can re-assemble the shaft in the same orientation. These can be troublesome. Check the archives. JN
