Pay as little as possible!  Seriously, you will have to call around and
ask the going rate.  I wouldn't pay more than a couple hundred for one
that works.  Here is the Web site for the largest VW recycler on the the

Usually "recyclers" will warranty a major component like this for 30
days or 1000 miles, not much but better than nothing.  You might be
better off having yours fixed. You could spend a lot of time and money
and be in the same spot in a few months.
