This has been tried in Holland by public transport companies who ran their buses on linseed or sunflower oil - the great thing of course being that this makes you independent of mineral oil. We could reclaim even more sea, just to grow linseed. Sunflowers are more difficult in our climate. The experiment failed because of the smell of rancid frying oil spread by the buses (imagine hanging your head over the french fries deepfryer at a McDonalds').
