I've taken the roof unit out of my '85 to clean and seal it once, and to replace a valve I had to do this again. The only bad thing I can think about it is that the headliner usually will always show where it was. Cigarette tar stains and whatever on the headliner. You will also have a few screwholes in the headliner and you will need to find a way to plug the hole in the floor behind the drivers seat where the hoses exit and enter. A lot of people do take them out and for the most part, it looks fine. Send me the plastic parts--mine are disintegrating and getting new ones isn't an option! ----- Original Message ----- From: Jeff <btlbug@BRIGHT.NET> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Thursday, January 13, 2000 8:39 AM Subject: A/C to be or not to be > I have an 1984 Vanagon with A/C.
