Has anyone found a good (reasonable) source for this material?  The old Type IIs used polished aluminum that would easily outlast the rubber gasket; then some clever plastics salesman convinced not only VW but also BMW, Saab, and many others to use stuff that discolors within a few years of exposure to the weather.  It would be a nice spring cleaning project...... any thoughts appreciated.
