I've always had the idea to create some device that would allow you
| to securely crack the hatch in back to draw a draft across the lower bed.

Check the archives. It should contain a post of mine describing the gizmo that a
local machine shop fabricated for me that allows the rear hatch to be propped
open a few inches while remained securely locked. It's one of the most useful
accessories/mods I've done to the vehicle.

IMHO, maybe during daylight hours but definitely not overnight.
