Use a cheep 12 point  half inch drive socket that can be hammered over
the bad nut.
Only go about half way, if it walks go all the way on or get the next
size smaller socket, SAE craftsman usually are best.
Getting the trashed nut/bolt back out can be fun, I use another socket
reversed and a large punch.
This is also how to get off locking lugs with no key.
