If she loves this thing, she ought to buy it back from the insurer and have it fixed. So what if it has a "salvage" title. As long as she documents (or has someone document) what was done to bring it up to snuff. I say all this sight unseen simply because I rebuilt a 1976 that had SERIOULSY burned, and it wasn't too big a deal. Tell her to tell the insurance so to structure a settlement with her buying back the van. Did this with a 914 that I piloted through a T-bone (her fault). Got good coin, and lots of great parts. Well it looks like the insurance company is going to total the car. The owner told me that she feels like "Cinderella when her Chariot turned back into a pumpkin". I mentioned that there may be someone on the list interested in picking up the car. I don't know what the insurance company will want for it, but would anyone be interested in a slightly toasted '80 Westy located in Santa Barbara, CA? It looked like it was in decent shape, and it honestly didn't burn that much. Also, what kind of an adjustment should she expect from the insurance company? Any advice?
