i was listening to NPR this morning when a newsbrief came on that said a
group of motorists were caught in an avalanche somewhere in Alaska. a
couple of them notified the authorities of their predicament by cellular
phone. the announcer then went on to say that they told authorities that
they were inside a Volkswagen van with a propane heater, so not to worry
too much about them in particular. pretty neat.
