I made a step-up kind of device to assist my vertically challenged family
members in their "rise to the top".
It consists of a length of dowel (or axe handle in my case), to one end of which
is attached a circular piece of wood (dia. approx. 5").  The other end is
inserted into the sleeve that would normally be used for the leg of the front
table. It also doubles as a teeny-weenie coffee cup holder at meal times!
