For a quick fix you can just clamp off the hoses.  This is what I was told to
do by my mechanic when I had a similar coolant sauna explosion.  He told me
to take two vice grip pliers in the needle-nose shape, and clamp one onto
each hose.  I did, and it worked.  This will at least get you to a mechanic
who won't rip you off.
