That happened to me. I was leaving the garage at my work and suddenly the accelerator gave no response! I had the vehicle towed to the nearest mechanic who replaced the cable for about $100.00. The was the price in Los Angeles. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com]On Behalf Of John Schaper Sent: Tuesday, February 22, 2000 7:50 AM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Throttle cable I did something stupid that broke my throttle cable. With the rpm's at 2000 at a stop light I used my toe to try to bring the accelerator pedal back to reduce the rpm's. (I know it is probably the throttle switch). Anyway, it broke, but since it was dark and I couldn't investigate further, I don't know what broke. Has anybody done anything similarly stupid? What broke, what do I need to replace--my guess is after looking at Bentley is the "relay lever", "pin", or clamping bold. I looked at the engine accelerator cable and it is OK, the cable is still attached. Any help would be appreciated.
