My guess is the printed circuit board foil. I had the same symptoms and had to solder "hard wire" around the foil to the light switch. Of course I could have spent about $75 for new pc foil which I might do someday. Ken Hunter 82 Westy 1.9D 84 Jetta 1.6D 89 Mitsubishi van
