The fiberglass pop-top on my '90 Multivan has oxidation problems.  It's not severe, but discoloration is noticeable... perhaps 20% discoloration with the
beginning of a "chalky" appearance on the bergundy (VW=red) color.  The local body shop, which has a good rep, said it had to be repainted for about $500.
The local Maico dealership (the reason the term, "you-get-what-you-pay-for," was coined) concurs that the fix is a $200 paint job.

For those of you who have dealt with this problem, do you agree that this is the only fix available?
