Subject:The word accelerator
From:Andrew Grebneff

Beware use of this word. strictly speaking any normal car has three
accelerators:
1) throttle 2) brake 3)steeringwheel

This is because acceleration is ANY change in speed IN A GIVEN DIRECTION.
Slow down and you're changing speed. Drive at a constant speed in a circle
and you're undergoing a constant acceleration (your speed is changing in
any given direction).

If you don't believe it, ask a physicist. It's just another abused word.
Another abused term is shock absorber (which are your springs, not the
hydraulic dampers). There are heaps of others!
