Hey Vanagon Friends! Just a quick update/invite. Suzanne & I are doing well. We are all settled in to our old house in the wee little town of Mount Olive, NC (elev. 130', pop: 4,800). Our 1982 Westy now has a barn all to itself. I rarely drive it, as most everything is walking distance. I love that. The van is ready when we need it. The yard is mulched, bushes are planted, the grass is greening, and the air is clean. We haven't been camping since fall, as my business (like the rest of the economy) is doing crazy good things. I love my work, so I can't complain. There just aren't enough hours in the day. INVITE: As part of our thanks for the clients, friends, and Vanagon people who have inspired/encouraged us, we are hosting a Grand Opening/Y'all come!/Open house during the Annual NC Pickle Festival; 29 April, 2000 12:00 p.m.- 12:00a.m. (or camp over). Now, before you giggle, the Pickle Festival is Home-Town America in a bottle. It's great. Flags flying. Antique car show. Barbecue. Dancing. Gallivanting. Cavorting. 'Miss NC Pickle' contest. If you yearn for a Home-town celebration this is it. It attracts about 45-50 thousand people. We are planning to serve Jambalaya (if the price of shrimp comes down a bit!), otherwise we'll do chicken. It isn't actually a "VW Camp" thing, but I'd love to see Vanagon faces here! If enough folks respond, I'll talk with my neighbor, who has a 1/2 acre she doesn't use, and we can put a dozen or two vans there. We can accommodate prolly six or eight on our property, and we have about 300 feet of frontage on the road. Whether camped on our drive, the street or our neighbor's property it will be PRIMATIVE camping, No water/sewer/electricity. Come self-contained. And don't pee in Colleen's azaleas. In the evening (Saturday) some local folks who sing bluegrass/gospel will be over for an evening Jam. I know we'll do some sort of evening meal, but haven't figured that out yet. For those who choose camp over and want to attend worship, there's a church on almost every corner, so there's gotta be one you like nearby. RSVP (e-mail) so I can prep the neighborhood. Come meet the Bulley, and his beautiful and talented wife Suzanne. Come celebrate Pickles. Come slurp Jambalaya. Y'all come! G.
