Subject:Awning Question-Opinions wanted

Hi-dy Ho List-a-reno's,
I have a quick question. I'm want to get an awning for my Vanagon
Westy. However, the thought of spending 300-500 bucks for a tube
mounted unit doesn't appeal to me. I was thinking of getting one of
those bag type awnings that are used on pop-up campers that side into a
groove. Less expensive. I'm not scared to drill holes and attach a
rail on the bus, I take the proper precautions to prevent rust and so
forth, I'm wondering what it will look like hanging there on the side of
the bus. That where your opinion comes on. Do you think it will look
goofy? I can't imagine it would look any worse than having a tube bolted
to the side of the bus. I'm also thinking that the bag may hang down
and interfere with the operations of the doors. If anyone has tried
this let me know.
Of course if anyone has the proper style awning, used, they would
like to unload, by all means let me know. Take care.
