Douglas This is a Fuel Expansion Tank and you will also note there is one mounted in the RH wheelwell. The 2 bottom leads are tank vent lines and the line on top feeds fuel fumes to a Charcoal Filter. It sounds like the rubber fuel line that joins to the white plastic line is rotten, therefore leaking (it was in my case) when the fuel tank is full.I replaced the rubber fuel line and clamps-no leaks. Hope this helps Gerry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Douglas Demarest" <Dldemarest@AOL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Sunday, April 16, 2000 10:19 AM Subject: What is this?/Fuel leak > There is a whiteish plastic reservoir mounted in the front wheel-well area, > basically below the driver's seat and above the front tire.
