Subject:G50: does bellhousing need shortening?
From:Andrew Grebneff

I have heard that the Porsche G50 trans' bellhousing needs expensive
shortening to fit a VW, as the overall trans length is too great,
displacing the drive flanges and engine too far back.

Can anyone confirm this? The information MAY have been referring to a
shorter VW such as a Bug or Type 3, I'm not sure. But I suspect it may have
been pure bull.
