In 400,000 or so miles of driving, I've seen exactly three Toyotas with the hood up beside the road. One Tercel (which I fixed on the spot), one Corolla (didn't stop), and one more Tercel (mine, I was sitting in it). That one had a faulty ignition module (Toyota calls them "igniters") which was under recall; the dealer took it, fixed it, paid for the tow and brought the car to me at work that noontime. Of course in that same time I've only seen one Vanagon stuck beside the road, so obviously they're a lot more reliable than Toyotas. <g> david David Beierl - Providence, RI http://pws.prserv.net/synergy/Vanagon/ '84 Westy "Dutiful Passage" '85 GL "Poor Relation"
