It's always sad to hear that a VW has been damaged, but at least it's good to know that the Vanagon can protect its occupants from other vehicles, even a rear-ending by a lumbering Econoline at 40-45mph. And it's even better to know that the VW can be driven away afterward. I hope "Bread" is going to get what it deserves, a decent repair! It would have been interesting to see photos of the front & cab interior of the head-on test Caravelle used against the Volvo on Bud Premack's www.oz.net/~sneakers/crash.htm. somewoh I doubt this van was drivable; I'd like to know what happened to the floor and driver's leg area. Anyone know whether each vehicle was doing 58kmh (total 116, or 72mph) or was the 58 the combined speed? From the wording etc it seems to be 58 per vehicle. People can die in single-car accidents at less than 50kmh, so this VW is really impressive. Just be glad you Floridans get the reject Canadian drivers; Canadians aren't good drivers, but at least they have some level of courtesy. New Zealand drivers are really bad, and utterly discourteous as well. Andrew
