Last night I drove home and discovered that the van was again leaking diesel fuel (lovely to look at-all over the back hatch/window). Anyway, I share this van with my dad and he called to tell me that the seal around the cold start valve is leaking. Does anyone know if the engine has to be taken apart to fix this? Mechanic in my home town said it does - but my dad says this happened to him when he owned a Diesel Rabbit pickup, and they did not take apart the engine to fix it. Dealer can't get back to me today - they don't even know if they carry the part(s) any more. (I should mention cold start thingy doesn't work either.) Any ideas? TIA. Donna, 1987 Wolfsburg, 82 Diesel
