Jim -- Hope you are reading at the moment.  I recomment you get in
touch with Darrell,
midwesty@MIDWEST.NET .....  He rebuilds Vanagon 'computers' or ECUs or
whatever you call them, for a very reasonable price.  He would be the
first guy I would call, before taking a chance on an ECU out of a
boneyard.  Good luck!
