A lot of folks who have shelled out the $300-$500 for one of these type of systems swear by them. Most who didn't pay for them, consider them junk. Looks like a case of not wanting to feel like a sucker. The P.O. installed one of these in TURD before I bought her. It was running all the time and accomplished 2 things: 1) Dead battery every time I parked it for 4 to 5 weeks. Remove the unit and no more draining problems. 2) Rust where the pads were mounted. The unit had 4 additional contact pads. Where each one was mounted the car rusted. That and seem rust is worse on my van that any other '82 I've seen. These results are not scientific, but the theory of why they work is negated by the lack of an earth ground. When fighting rust there is no miracle cure. Hard work and great prevention are the only real solutions. Or move to the desert :-) Good Luck, and save your $300 Chris Smith '82 Westy '74 Thing Some cars that run
