I have a bad oil leak (3/4 qt in 200 mi freeway driving).

I suspect there is a leak at the oil pump gasket, but I can't
see it.

My next move is to remove the guard from under the engine and
hope that I can see something to confirm/deny my suspecion.

If it is the oil pump/gasket what is the net wisdom on proceeding.
