Not what you asked, but you can wire a buzzer, RS p/n 273-055 btw the light
circuit and either ignition or driver's door switch so that it buzzes when
the lights are hot and the other is dead.  That particular buzzer has a
built-in diode and color-coded leads, it's all you need.  Low pitch,
pleasant tone (for a buzzer).
