Terry-- I suppose since you are the transmission technician, I'd trust your experience beyond my own. I've never "seen the damage that these types of products do to the internals of transmissions" because I am not a transmission technician. I can't say I'd know what I was looking at, and what damage to attribute to PTFE, and what was just normal wear. What does it look like - PTFE damage? I'm, just a motorist who has used an apparently beneficial product on a worn-out transmission. What should someone do about bearing and gear whine? Thanks for sharing your wisdom, gmb -----Original Message----- From: Terry Kay [SMTP:CTONLINE@webtv.net] Sent: Saturday, July 29, 2000 10:55 AM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: Slick 50 for Manual transmissions << Message: Slick 50 for Manual transmissions >> Bulley, I have seen the damage that these types of products do to the internals of transmissions, and engines and it's ugly. I haven't inspected,a rear end that has run this stuff, so I am not going to embellish on that. However, if it will screw up the first two mentioned, I shutter to think what it might do to a rear end. You usually come up with some pretty good stuff, but I'm sorry to say, not this time. Terry
