As it says in the introduction, " This publication gives advise on driving in countries with traffic and climatic conditions which are not usually met within Central Europe. "The success or failure of a journey often depends on the careful preparation of the vehicle and the critical selection of equipment. This applies particularly in the case of journeys of an expeditionary nature." So, if you're planning to drive your loaf/Vanagon across the Sahara, this 'Technical Recommendation' is what VWAG believes are essential modifications. Poke around in it a bit, and you'll find the 'recommended' spare parts that should be on-board if you plan on driving to a place where factory service of Vanagons is not an option (like interior Mexico and points south.) This document ought to be a 'must read' for those planning to join the Syncro crowd in their Carrera Panamerica journey this summer. Easily the best VW supplied document that I have in my library! Have fun. Jim
