HELP! Have replaced nearly everything in the ac system and it still isn't cooling. Techie tells me this story: When van was first diagnosed, ac was operating, somewhat cool, but not cold... good air flow. He measured equal pressure (approx) from the high side (110 and low side (100). From this determined that the compressor was not functioning properly. System had 2 1/2 pounds of freon in it at that time. Got compressor and receiver/drier from bus depot. Original compressor #7411... new one #7401... Ron Salmon assured me that was OK. Tech replaced comp and rec/dry, but used the old clutch from the original compressor because the new one had a smaller diameter pulley and different plug-in on the wiring harness. After hook up, he evacuated the system for one hour... added freon again (R-12 because freeze 12 is not available in Hawaii he says), and fired it up. Same symptoms. Equal pressure... no cold air. So, he figured since we have a new compressor, maybe the expansion valve is stuck open. He replaced the expansion valve, evacuated the system for thirty minutes, recharged with 2 1/2 lbs of freon again. This time he got a low of 70-80 lbs and a high reading of 150 lbs. No cooling, no frostings, no cold lines. Evacuated again. added again. Back where we started... 110 high, 110-120 low. Adding additional freon did not help. He's stuck and so am I. Wanted to go camp tonight, but... Anybody got an idea?
