Has anyone replaced just the glass piece on the 86-91 style rearview
mirrors?
Has anyone been able to purchase the replacement rear view mirror
from VWOA or anyone else?

It is part number 251-857-513B and is known as Flat mirror glass for
rear view mirror.

Are there any tricks to uncliping the old one and inserting the new
glass?

This will fit on the drivers side (or passenger side ) of the power
mirror for my 89 Syncro Westy.
