        While you are at it you might consider replacing the tank. The
last time I purchased an expansion tank from VW it came with a sensor.
The tanks develop white lines through them which later turn into cracks.
        I have been able to replace them with out draining the system. I
made clamps out of large dowels/broom stick handles. I draw them together
with two screws to pinch off the hose right next to the tank. That way
the rest of the system stays pressurized when you drain the tank.
