I had my radio stolen out of my vanagon while it was parked in front of a
hotel on Miami Beach... they took out the driver's side window to get at it
.. while the car was at the dealer getting the radio and window replaced by
my insurance company... Some energetic voles, climbed the fence into the
dealers high security lot and again broke the window and took the new radio
before I ever saw it... At that point, I gave up on radios in the Vanagon at
that point and have become a pretty good whistler...

No longer do I wax my Van though I have brought the maintenance of the
running gear to obsessive levels... I also use old engine covers on new
outboards... In my experience, things that look a little shabby have a
tendency to stay around longer ... tax men do not pay them a lot of notice
either...
