Susan B. ??? > and what does the little gauge next to it mean (half green half white)... This one indicates whether the pilot light is lit when running on propane. The needle stays to the right (white) when the pilot light is off. On mine, the smallest gas flow will cause the needle to rest right on the line between white and green. When I turn the flame up, the needle swings to the left. It should be in the green area when running. > Also, does the On/Off Switch need to be switched to On when running on propane, or just the Gas on/off knob. I have assumed for a while that the ridiculous toggle switch was not a stock feature, and that it was added by a previous owner with NO sense whatsoever. This switch activates the 12v heating element. I don't think you should run it with the propane. My propane system will not function properly with this switch turned on. The 12v element on the Dometic RM215 fridge consumes 9.2 amps, which is enough to seriously discharge any battery when the engine is not running. > Matt & Nise I would like to correspond with ANYONE who has some or all of the factory literature that came with the ASI Vanagon campers. Some of the companies that made the equipment in these vans are no longer in business or do not support components this old. Mike Snow 1983 ASI Diesel 5 speed
