I agree whole heartedly with what you said about the water boxer vrs. the 1.8T. Sort of like Leonardo Devinchie. You have to look outside the box. I know it's off topic but there was a post about some lady that said "just a little pot" on the Canadian boarder patrol. :) please can you fill us in. What happened exactly, did you really have pot or was it a joke. Please I'm dieng to know... (amagines her saying to me "well don't hold your breath") ::grines and snickers:: thanks guys, this mailing list is great! ------Original Message------ From: "Karl M." <thewestyman@MINDSPRING.COM> To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: September 4, 2000 2:41:44 AM GMT Subject: Re: Volkswagen, what are you trying to do? It has always puzzled me that VW had all the parts to install the 1.8 GTi engine in the Vanagon from the very beginning of the waterboxer days (the diesels of '82~'83 had all the mounting parts). Instead they chose to spend more $$ to (re)design an ancient engine with watercooled heads and wet sleeves that in no way would ever be as strong as the inline-4 engine! Funny that now many are 'converting' to the very setup that VW should have had the sense to supply in the beginning (the Tiico engine conversion).
