Mark, I think I know the solution to your problem. On my 85 if the timing
is set to specs it always balks on accelerating from stop. The mechanic now
sets the timing and then adjusts it just enough to stop that bucking. If
that sounds like your problem give it a try as it has fixed up others as
well. I don't know if you retard or advance the timing but I do know the
adjustment is very subtle.
