Dear Listees- Just wanted to put in MTCW on my experience with a badly faded blue pop-top. (I think the folks at VW really were at Octoberfest when they came up with the colored pop-top notion!) I had tried many of the suggestions from various listees on cleaning and restoring color to the fiberglass, including boat waxes and other gel coat treatments. The waxes prooved to be effective for a while, albeit a PITA to wax off because of the "orange peel" finish, and the top seemed to fade back or dry out eventually. This weekend I used a product called Westley's Black Magic, sort of by accident, and the results were amazing! It is really easy to work in (the whole top took about 30 min, max). The color came back to a really nice blue luster, and it's not overly shiney or glossy if you buff it out a bit. The product is intended for tires and bumpers, etc., and is alot thicker than Armour All and other spray on products. This may be old news to some of you, but just thought I'd share my bliss...FWIW.
