You are going sell your 89 Carat just because the table got stuck?  :-)

I used a listmember's advice and bought a super strong and thin rare earth
magnet from some website and put it on the table where that post was.
Then, I put a steel toggle bolt in the latch hole in the wall for the
magnet to stick to.  It doesn't fall off around corners, and it isn't too
hard to open when I need to.
