<< clutch shudder

I just finished a repair of this problem for a customer. There were two
problems causing the clutch shuddering. First the flywheel surface was
damaged. The clutch had been replaced twice by previous idiots who never
refaced the flywheel. The flywheel in Vanagons should be refaced each and
every time a new clutch is installed. The second problem was the
transmission mount at the front of the transmission was defective. The
rubber had become unbound from the metal. Had to bite the bullet on this one
and order a new transmission mount from VW. It was $191. CND. The clutch
does not shudder now when starting out in first gear. >>
