Hi Listees! I need some mechanical help. My 89 Westy won't start, and using the Bentley for value readings and a multimeter, it looks like it boils down to my starter/solenoid. The Bentley describes removing the starter from a Syncro, but doesn't show removal from a regular 2.1 digifant engine. Anybody had any experience with this? Should I leave this job to the pros, or can I tackle it with some limited shadetree experience? My main concern is the limited wiggle space under the van in my driveway. I could put it up on stands, but would this give me enough room, and access to handle the job? Any answers are greatly appreciated.... thanks.. zephyrman, owner of White Cloud (89 VW Westy), and proud caretaker of Mikey, The Genuine, Original Ozark Mountain Wonder Dog and Griz Chaser, currently residing halfway between Bucksnort and Toadsuck.
