Subject:Re: Is it about time for Sandblasting?

I built a cabinet sandblaster for about $50. I bought a siphon gun from
Menards for about $20. I had a used 55 gallon plastic barrel. It is white
and I highly recommend the color. I cut one end out and made a door. I cut a
hole in the side and bought some plexiglass to make a window. I cut two hand
holes and bought some sandblasting gloves from Eastwood, $20, and fitted them
in the holes. I made legs from plastic pipe I had left over from a project.
I used weatherstrip to seal the door and around the window. I used one of
the bung holes in the barrel as an exhaust and connected my shop vac to it.
I attached the siphon hose and the air hose to quick connects I installed in
the side of the barrel. I installed caps on the ends of the legs and
attached old casters I had laying around. Last but not least, I installed a
spotlight inside the barrel with a switch on the outside. Works great! I
have a bar stool that is the right height to work with the cabinet. One
Saturday, I spent 7 hours doing all on the sheet metal on a 40h bug engine.
I also did the VW medallion for the front of my '71 bus and some other stuff.

I bought a new powder coating outfit from Eastwood but have not used it yet.
Bought an electric stove, $15, and installed it in the garage (already had
220v running to the garage for the compressor). Will use it to cure the
powder coat. Not big enough, though, for the fan housing from the 40h.

Let me know if you have questions.
