Yes there is a different between the X and the X >One... A *big* difference! One is a premium all-out our off-road / military >tire and the other is a lot more civilized - especially of you have Mercury >Villager and quiet in the same sentence. then alot snipped out. Michelin use(d) the "X" designation on a few of their tires, not just what you have on your military vehicles. Remember the plain old "Michelin X" radial of the early '70s? (about the same time as Pirelli had their CN36) My '82 westy came with Michelin X "reinforced" tires, same tread pattern as the old passenger tire but a higher load rating and inflation pressure. The tires I have now, Michelin Agilis 61, also have the "Michelin X" designation molded on the sidewall. My, ahem, theory is that the "X" is Michelin's name/code for not only a particular tire but the method of carcass construction/belt wrapping. All started with the original passenger tire as used subsequently on all the derivatives. Alistair
