We use a Stihl masonry saw to collect fossil whales. It's about 16 years old and has spent a lot of time engulfed in an opaque duststorm of its own making, has been reliable but is tricky to start from cold (but then, isn't this the case with all crude, ie nonmotorcycle, twostrokes?). I find that putting it on full choke won't start it; after a few pulls on full choke, I back the knob off to about half and it usually starts without too much fuss. Usually. Haven't had a chance to take my Caravelle on a fossil trip yet (sigh).
