Depending on how much you want to do to your vanagon, you can also
install a rev limiting tach.  These are available at most speed shops.
They have many types, but the dial needle setting style works well.  You
can adjust the tach to whatever cutoff you want.  Of course, just
turning the knob means that anyone can turn in to 10K !!
