A couple years ago, some guy had a westy sitting out back of the place I worked in an industrial park. The van was there for a couple days, I was curious. Next timeI saw him I asked him what was up. He was waiting for an engine to be shipped from Sacrotomato and he put it in on one weekend. I have done it in my garage on both an aircooled and a waterboxer... The waterboxer was easier and took lots less time. I suspect it could be done in about 8 hours total. I just don't envy doing it outside in December on the east coast if that is what it would take. tim o'brien
