This wire, 000 979 131 is just VWs way of making sure that a certain
connector is crimped properly.  They sell the connectors already crimped
on either side of a (+/-) 12" wire.  Then all you have to do is butt
connect the wires to use these new style connectors.  These wires are
cheap, considering that you do not need the crimper anymore!

VW also supplies butt connectors with heat shrink ends on them.  They
cost as much as the wire!
