The 5 cyclinder engines are capable of 200K+. I have 139K on my '93 and have never had a problem with the engine. Yes there are isolated problems with these, but to me there seems to be far less that goes wrong with the EV than the Vanagon. As for the price, EV models other than the campers, are very good buys. I've seen the '93 CL, GL and MV models priced from $3,000. And yes, there are aftermarket sources for many of the parts. I've purchased OEM timing belt, water pump, idler pullies, thermostat, brake shoes and a few other parts at far less than dealer. All of these were replaced as preventitive maintenance. I could go on and on about the EV and how great it is, but I've never owned a Vanagon, so I can't make comparisons. Steve Lashley '93 EV MV http://EuroCampers.com
