Subject:Different Facts: Axels/CVs, Helmut and Andrew:
From:Raimund Feussner

Seems like my first mail disappeared in the wide, wide web, so:

 Hi Andrew,

 > Can you tell me if the 108mm VW CVs are the same as
 > 930? If so, maybe I could get some direct from RSA.

The CVs used on the VW 16" and the Audi only fit on the 16" axles, not on
the normal 14"syncro or 2WD axles. They are of no use with "normal" vanagon
 parts.

 I have the 108mm Audi 100 /US-Audi 5000 CVs here.
Will you use Vanagon or Porsche axles?
The vanagon axles are too thin for the Audi 108mm CVs except the axles from
 the 16" syncro.
If youll use the Porsche axles, please count the teeth and tell me the
diameter, I can compare these values with the Audi CVs.

Also, I could try to find out if 108mm Audi CVs exist that fit onto the
 thinner Vanagon axles...

And Helmut:
>As you read the part number, this CV joint is originally built into
>the Audi 100 / A6. For testing purpose (or cheap replacements) get
>a set at your local salvage yards. As I heard, the Audi CV joint will
>fit the Vanagon axle.

These only are the rubber boots, not the CVs.
They are 431 498 103 C and, as said above, they only fit the 16"versions!

Die 443-Nummer sind nur die Gelenkschutzhllen!

These are all CVs used in Vanagons:
251 598 101 14" syncro and normal 2WD rear CV
431 498 103 C 16" syncro rear CV
251 498 103 A inner syncro front CV
251 498 099 E outer syncro front CV 14" and 16"
251 498 099 E outer syncro front CV 14" with lockable diff
251 498 099 B outer syncro front CV 16" with lockable diff VIN
>24-L-028827
251 498 099 C outer syncro front CV 16" with lockable diff VIN
<24-L-028828

 Greetings
 Raimund
