When the high pressure sensor (the one near the crankshaft pulley) on my 91
went
bad, the parts guy at the VW dealer said that some people install the sensor
from the
diesel because it doesn't trigger until the pressure gets a little lower.  I
bought both
the gas and diesel sensors and switched to the diesel one after about 6 months

when the buzzing returned.   Didn't help for long tho.
