Just the obvious, which I'm sure you'll already have checked! Could it be
coming in via headlight wiring? I don't know whether the Vanagon wiring
runs throught  the front panels as it did in the splits. Also door seals,
quarterlights, grill mounting screws, fresh-air vents etc? Why not try a
dry-powder extinguisher to find the leak(s)?
